Porsche On-Board 2024: Second Stage of the Italian Kiteboarding and Wingfoil Championship Concluded in Campione del Garda

Campione del Garda, June 9, 2024 - The stunning setting of Lake Garda hosted the first two days of the Porsche On-Board 2024 regatta, organized by the Classe Kiteboarding e Wingfoil Italia (CKWI) in collaboration with Univela Sailing, valid for the 2024 Italian Championship. The event featured two spectacular disciplines: Kitefoil and Wingfoil Racing, attracting some of the best national and international athletes.

Porsche Initiatives

During the event, Porsche took the opportunity to promote its new fully electric vehicle. Partnering with Univela and CKWI in organizing the event, Porsche invited enthusiasts from all over Italy. Over the three days of racing, participants and visitors had the chance to test drive Porsche's electric cars, a fully electric motorboat, e-Foil boards capable of flying over water, and the new electric mountain bikes. These initiatives highlighted Porsche's commitment to sustainability and technological innovation.

Outstanding Participants

In the Olympic discipline of Kitefoil, the participants demonstrated exceptional skill and technique. Among the standout competitors were the athlete from Circolo Surf Torbole, Flavio Marx (ITA 48), Giuseppe Paolillo from Rimini (ITA 55), and Angelo Soli also from Rimini (ITA 458). Together with other international talents, they competed in various weather conditions, facing steady winds and sudden disturbances.

In the Wingfoil Racing class, athletes like Riccardo Zorzi (ITA 41), Ernesto De Amicis (ITA 70), and champion Alessandro José Tomasi (ITA 25) shone, with Tomasi delivering an impressive performance by winning multiple consecutive races.

Female Competitors

In the women's ranking, the Formula Kite podium was dominated by foreign athletes, with POR 45 Mafalda Pires de Lima taking first place and ARG 45 Catalina Turienzo securing second place.

Performance and Weather Conditions

The first day of racing, June 7, was characterized by steady, light south winds, allowing for 6 races for the Formula Kite and 4 races for the Wingfoil Racing class. On the second day, due to disturbances, the races were split between early afternoon and late evening, with a total of 4 races in the afternoon and another 2 in the evening. The third and final day saw a strong disturbance across northern Italy, permitting only two races and effectively keeping the rankings unchanged.

The Porsche On-Board 2024 offered an unforgettable spectacle, highlighting the high level of the participants and solidifying Campione del Garda's position as one of the preferred destinations for water sports in Italy. The impeccable organization by CKWI and Univela Sailing ensured a successful event, contributing to the promotion of Kiteboarding and Wingfoil at both national and international levels.
