This year - just before Trofeo Claudio Team Race regatta giving a possiblity to put in the action the new ideas right away with your team :)

Trofeo Claudio Team Race is organized by the same sailing club where the coach event will take place. A great possibility to put right away in the practice the acquired skills of the team race during the coach event :)

Coach of one of the world’s best teams in 2022 - Ukraine team (Silver team in the Worlds, numerous podiums and victories in an international regattas) and one of most titled sailor Sviatoslav Madonich.

SANTIAGO LOPEZ

One of the most experienced coaches working with many talented and recognized sailors. Master’s degree in Sport Science, currently head coach of the Helsingfors Segelklubb (Finland).

One of the most noted international judges, specialized in ‘RULES COACHING’, leading expert of Italian Optimist Association and GAN team. By being expert of team e match race he has given a significant contribution to lead Italian teams to the TOP results in an international level.

MARCELLO MERINGOLO

Optimist coach since 1998 and currently coach of the Italian National Team which is one of the most winning team in international competitions over the last years. One of the best coaches in the Optimist class landscape. World Championship Team race winners 2023

Owner of CD Sails, founder of Olimpic Sails. Sailor of many successes at a national and international level, winner of 3 world championships. Sail making experience of more than 40 years, expert and advisor of the newest technical features and combinations of Optimist sailing equipment.

WORK ORGANIZATION

The schedule will be organized including the following didactic methods:

• Round Table discussions

  The moderators will open the discussion about the topics and display an engaging lesson that will end up in a mutual exchange of opinions.

• Try and explain method
• Video briefings
• Technical speeches
• Direct feedback - Coach to Athlete and Athlete to Coach
• Plenty of water sessions to test and see in action all the ideas :)
• Special sessions of our Guest coaches

Also this year, together with Michele Ricci and support of Marcello Meringolo we will continue to deep dive in the Team Racing topic

High level sailors on the invitation will be at the full availability of coaches for excercises, demostrations and tests.

MAIN TOPICS

1- Boat Handling: Development of pressing positions and upper body tension during upwind. Downwind advance technics and theory.

2- Maneuvers: tacking and jibing, different styles and technics.

3- Team race: Theory and Blocks, practical demonstration

1. Boat handling

The topic will be develop during an open discussion in the classroom, lead by our international coaches. They will open the conversation showing different technics and introducing the concept of “pressing” during upwind in light and medium conditions. During the debrief the discussion will go deep into the details and limits of the technic.

The theory of Downwind will be held in the evening, the main topic will be “compression and decompression, timing and limits” in preparation for the early morning demonstration. The debrief will be held after the morning session.

2. Maneuvers

For the first time ever our coaches will organize an experiment, engaging top sailors into a mixed demonstration on the water of different technics and styles of tacking and jibing. The moderators will assign a sailor and a pool of styles to small groups of coaches and the workshop will take place on the water.

3. Team Race

Super requested and rated, for the second year we will debate in the classroom and test on the water the main blocks and the basics of the team race. The round table will be open by the basics of the discipline and will bring the coaches to discuss about specific dynamics, all under the supervision of one of the most famous umpires in the world, Michele Ricci.

LOCATION: CAMPIONE UNIVELA (LAKE GARDA)

The training is organized in Campione Univela Hostel in Via Riccardo Cozzaglio 1, 25010 Campione del Garda, Italy www.campioneunivela.it Surrounded by trees and mountains on Lake Garda's shores, around 5 km. from Limone sul Garda and 19 km from Riva Del Garda, with a private beach, equipment and structure for the water sports. The rooms feature a balcony with mountain or lake views, TV, air conditioning, internet and private bathroom.

Getting There – we have not foreseen the organized transport , but if somebody needs a help to get in the location from Riva Del Garda or Limone sul Garda- just let us know , we will be happy to see if we can give a support

COSTS OF THE WORKSHOP

PARTICIPATION FEE: 390.0 Eur for 3 days of workshop.

It also includes the official C.s.e.n (Italian Amateur sports association) membership card which we are requested to provide for the participants of the public sports events.

The training, accommodation and meals are organized all in the same place - Campione Univela. We have agreed on special collaboration prices for 3 days full pansion:

In case you don’t need an overnight stay, please feel to organize your presence in line with the training hours, though the common dinner time sharing and discussing the experience of the day is a great moment and we will miss you
